leaf peeping

Yeah I'm serious!

New England has some of the most most vibrant leaves I've ever seen this time of year. A few weeks ago I was looking online for somewhere to hike in the Berkshires, when I stumbled across "leaf peeping", which it turns out is a thing in up here. So, naturally, I didn't want to miss out and ended up convincing Miles to drive all the way out to the western-most county in Mass. The best time to go is really the first or second week in October, so we were a bit late to see the leaves in their peak. Still, it was impressive.

We took 90 W to a much smaller highway that wound up past Amherst and Northampton to and then west to Pittsfield. Starting in Historic Park Square in Pittsfield are two of three suggested scenic driving tours through the North and Central Berkshires. Ours led north and then southeast past lakes and mountains and tons of little towns (we took the Central/North route). The weather was perfect - I definitely recommend going for a drive around this area on a clear day. Even if the leaves are gone!
